About me

I decided to claim this little corner of the web as my own after becoming frustrated with much of the modern web. I miss the days when the web was simpler and going online meant posting in forums or updating your personal site. Now we all live constantly online due to the rise of smartphones. I'm not going to get into dooming and glooming (I want this site to be a level-headed space, and anyone reading this likely already understands), so I will leave it at that.

Who am I?

Just call me itapun. My life story is a sort of weeb fantasy - I grew up in the US and then during my late teenage years I moved to Japan and eventually became a Japanese citizen (Perhaps I will write more on that topic some day). I have always had a big interest in games (I suppose you could call me a consoomer) and over the years have built up quite a collection. Of course, my interests lie in other avenues as well. I like cassette tapes, rubiks cubes, yo-yo's, and all sorts of fun things. And yes, I like anime and manga (although admittedly I don't consume it as much as I did when I was younger). Oh yeah, I also practice kendo.

If there is anything you are curious about regarding me or anything I have said on this site, just ask by posting a comment through my neocities profile and I can write a post to answer your question. If I get enough questions I will set up a dedicated email for this.

Also, it would be cool to follow other peoples' sites and make friends in the neocities community, so feel free to follow and I will likely follow you back :)

What is this site?

There is no specific theme that I will follow. To put it in other words, this site is a digital representation of a 27 year old office worker in Tokyo. I will write and post about anything and everything that interests me and I plan to have dedicated sections and articles regarding some of my hobbies - the main one being on the topic of video game collecting. As someone with a large collection, I have learned a lot about maximizing space, repairing old games and consoles, modifications, and caring for/preserving these old trinkets. I want to share some of that information here. If you like video games and other odds and ends, perhaps you will enjoy reading this site when I post updates.

What is an itapun?

'itapun' is a word that my son made. When he started talking he developed a habit of creating his own words for things which he did not know what to call. It took a while for us to figure out what in the world and itapun was, but eventually we realized it is a Japanese 2-ton truck (I guess you could call it a pickup truck).
